Terms of Use

Last updated: 2026-05-18 · Effective date: Date of installation · Publisher: WebCorrect Pro

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of RunbookGuard (the "App"), published by WebCorrect Pro ("we", "us", "our") and distributed through the Atlassian Marketplace. By installing or using the App, you ("Customer", "you") agree to these Terms together with the Atlassian Marketplace Terms of Use described in §1. If you are accepting these Terms on behalf of an organisation, you represent that you have authority to bind that organisation.

1. Atlassian Marketplace Terms apply

The App is distributed under the Atlassian Marketplace Terms of Use. Those terms govern licensing, ordering, billing, renewals, refunds, the 30-day return window for paid apps, and Atlassian's role as the reseller. Where the Marketplace Terms conflict with these Terms on those subjects, the Marketplace Terms prevail.

These supplemental Terms apply only where the Marketplace Terms expressly defer to the publisher (e.g. permitted use of the App, warranty disclaimers, governing law), and they describe the App-specific obligations and limits in addition to anything Atlassian's framework already covers.

2. License

Subject to your compliance with these Terms and the Marketplace Terms, we grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the App within your Atlassian Cloud instance for the duration of your subscription. The license is granted to the Atlassian instance you install the App on; it does not extend to other instances or accounts you operate.

You may not, and you may not permit any third party to:

  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App, except to the extent that applicable law expressly prohibits this restriction;
  • Use the App to scan Atlassian instances, Confluence content, or AWS accounts that you do not have written authorisation to scan;
  • Resell, sublicense, lease, or otherwise commercially redistribute the App or access to it;
  • Use the App to develop a competing product, or to benchmark the App for the purpose of publishing comparative claims, without our prior written consent;
  • Remove or alter any copyright, trademark, or other proprietary notices on the App or its outputs.

3. Acceptable use

The App makes outbound calls to your own AWS account using credentials you provide. You are solely responsible for:

  • Authorisation. Ensuring you have authority to scan the AWS account(s) and Confluence content the App reads.
  • Least-privilege configuration. Granting the App only the permissions defined in our published IAM policy (cfn/v2/runbookguard-role.yaml): 16 explicit read actions across EC2, RDS, ELB, Route53, ElastiCache, ECS, EKS, Lambda, and S3 metadata. The App does not require, and we do not recommend granting, the AWS-managed ReadOnlyAccess policy.
  • AWS API costs. Inventory fetches consume AWS request quota billable to your AWS account. The App's calls are read-only and do not modify resources, but the request volume is governed by your scan frequency and selected regions. We are not liable for AWS API charges.
  • Email accuracy. The accuracy of the email address you configure for the weekly digest and any reply-to address. Bounces and undelivered messages are not our responsibility.
  • Compliance with law. Your use of the App must comply with all applicable laws and your own internal policies, including those governing data protection and computer misuse.

4. Third-party services

The App integrates with and depends on third-party services. Your relationship with each is governed by their terms, not ours:

  • Atlassian — Confluence Cloud, the Forge platform, Forge SQL, Forge KVS. Governed by the Atlassian Cloud Terms of Service and the Atlassian Marketplace Terms.
  • Amazon Web Services — the AWS account you connect. Governed by your AWS Customer Agreement.
  • Resend — the transactional email provider that delivers the weekly digest. Governed by Resend's terms of service.

We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or behaviour of these third-party services, and a service outage or change in any of them may degrade or suspend the App's functionality.

5. Forge platform limits

The App runs entirely on Atlassian's Forge platform, which imposes quotas and rate limits on every published app. The most material limits that may affect your use of the App:

  • Forge SQL — 1 GiB per install. Findings, entities, AWS snapshots, and audit logs share this 1 GiB envelope. The App enforces retention windows (see Privacy §4) to stay below the cap; very large Confluence + AWS estates may require shorter retention.
  • Function-invocation time limits. Synchronous Forge functions cap at 25 seconds; long scans run via a queue-consumer with a 15-minute timeout per batch. The App chains batches transparently — you don't operate it directly, but very large scans may take multiple hours of clock time to complete.
  • External-fetch allowlist. The Forge platform enforces a fixed outbound-domain allowlist (*.amazonaws.com, api.resend.com). Adding a destination requires an App update and a customer-side scope re-grant.
  • Rate limits. Atlassian, AWS, and Resend each impose independent rate limits. The App backs off and retries on transient throttling, but persistent throttling will slow or partially complete a scan.

Atlassian may change the platform limits at any time without notice to us; we will make commercially reasonable efforts to adapt the App but cannot guarantee that all App features remain unaffected.

6. Disclaimers

The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including without limitation warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, completeness, or uninterrupted or error-free operation.

We do not warrant that the App is free of bugs, that every scan will catch every stale reference, or that findings will not contain false positives or false negatives. The App's findings are advisory only; you should independently verify before deleting AWS resources, modifying runbooks, or taking operational action on the basis of a finding. The App is not a system of record for your infrastructure inventory or documentation.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties, so portions of this section may not apply to you. In those jurisdictions the disclaimers apply to the maximum extent permitted by law.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability for any claim arising from or relating to your use of the App is limited to the amount you paid us (via the Atlassian Marketplace) in the twelve months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or USD 100 if the App is offered free of charge, whichever is greater.

In no event will we be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages, including lost profits, lost revenue, lost data, business interruption, or cost of substitute services, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

The foregoing limitations do not apply to: (a) liability we are not permitted to limit under applicable law (including liability for gross negligence, wilful misconduct, fraud, or death or personal injury caused by negligence); (b) your payment obligations under the Marketplace Terms; or (c) your obligations under §3 (Acceptable use) or §8 (Indemnification).

8. Indemnification

8.1 By us

We will defend you against any third-party claim alleging that your authorised use of the App, as delivered through the Atlassian Marketplace and used in accordance with these Terms, infringes that third party's patent, copyright, trademark, or trade secret rights, and we will pay damages finally awarded against you (or the settlement amount we approve in writing). This obligation does not apply to claims arising from: (i) your modification of the App's outputs; (ii) your combination of the App with software or data not supplied or recommended by us, where the claim would not have arisen but for the combination; or (iii) your continued use of an allegedly infringing version after we have provided a non-infringing update.

8.2 By you

You will defend us and our personnel against any third-party claim arising from: (i) your violation of §3 (Acceptable use), including any scan of an AWS account or Confluence content you did not have authority to scan; (ii) your breach of applicable law in connection with the App; or (iii) your use of the App in combination with credentials, data, or systems you were not authorised to use, and you will pay damages finally awarded against us (or the settlement amount you approve in writing).

8.3 Procedure

The party seeking indemnification must promptly notify the indemnifying party in writing of the claim, tender sole control of the defence and settlement to the indemnifying party (provided that no settlement may admit fault or impose any non-monetary obligation on the indemnified party without its written consent), and provide reasonable cooperation at the indemnifying party's expense.

9. Termination & data return

You may terminate your use of the App at any time by uninstalling it from your Atlassian Cloud instance. We may suspend or terminate your access to the App, with or without notice, for material breach of these Terms, the Marketplace Terms, or applicable law, or where required to comply with a legal obligation.

Upon uninstall or termination, Atlassian deletes all Forge SQL + KVS data within 30 days per the Forge platform policy. We retain no copies. See Privacy §4 for the full data-retention schedule and Privacy §6 for your data-subject rights (access, deletion, portability) before or after termination.

Sections 6 (Disclaimers), 7 (Limitation of liability), 8 (Indemnification), 11 (Export controls), 13 (Governing law), 14 (General), and 15 (Contact) survive termination.

10. Feedback

If you submit feedback, ideas, feature requests, bug reports, or other suggestions about the App ("Feedback"), you grant us a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free, sublicensable license to use, reproduce, modify, and incorporate the Feedback into the App or any other product, without obligation or attribution. You represent that the Feedback is yours to submit and is not subject to a third party's confidentiality or IP claim. We are not required to keep Feedback confidential.

11. Export controls & sanctions

The App is subject to applicable export-control and economic-sanctions laws, including those administered by the U.S. Department of Commerce, the U.S. Department of the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), and the European Union. You represent and warrant that: (i) you are not located in, organised in, or a resident of a country or region subject to comprehensive U.S. or EU sanctions (currently including Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria, and the Crimea, Donetsk, and Luhansk regions); (ii) you are not on any U.S., EU, or UK restricted-party list; and (iii) you will not use the App for any prohibited end-use or in any prohibited destination.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The current version is always available at runbookguard.com/terms.html with a revised "Last updated" date. Material changes that reduce your rights will be announced via the digest email recipient on file and posted to the release notes, in each case at least 30 days before the change takes effect. Continued use of the App after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

13. Governing law & venue

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. The United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods does not apply. The exclusive venue for disputes arising from or relating to these Terms is the state and federal courts located in Suffolk County, Massachusetts, and each party irrevocably consents to the personal jurisdiction of those courts. Each party waives any right to a trial by jury to the maximum extent permitted by law.

The Atlassian Marketplace Terms of Use govern disputes about ordering, billing, refunds, and Atlassian's role as the reseller; nothing in this section overrides Atlassian's framework for those subjects.

14. General

14.1 Entire agreement

These Terms, together with the Atlassian Marketplace Terms of Use and the RunbookGuard Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding the App and supersede any prior or contemporaneous understandings on that subject.

14.2 Severability & waiver

If any provision of these Terms is held unenforceable, that provision will be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable, and the remainder of the Terms will remain in full force and effect. Our failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of our right to do so later.

14.3 Assignment

You may not assign or transfer these Terms or your subscription without our prior written consent, except in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of substantially all of your assets, in which case you must notify us within 30 days. We may assign these Terms to a successor in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or substantially all of our assets, on written notice to you.

14.4 Force majeure

Neither party is liable for any delay or failure to perform (other than your payment obligations) caused by events beyond its reasonable control, including acts of God, natural disasters, war, terrorism, civil unrest, government action, labour conditions, internet or telecommunications failures, or third-party-service outages (including Atlassian, AWS, or Resend outages).

14.5 Independent contractors

The parties are independent contractors. These Terms do not create any partnership, joint venture, agency, or employment relationship.

14.6 No third-party beneficiaries

Except for Atlassian (which is an intended third-party beneficiary of the provisions of these Terms relating to the Marketplace Terms), these Terms confer no rights or remedies on any third party.
